This exciting class will cover both fingerstyle and slide techniques through the study of carefully chosen songs sung by your favorite blues legends. Each class will focus on one player, dissecting his or her unique style through the framework of one quintessential song. From basic travis-picking and thumb picking to Son House's infamous "paddle" right hand technique, we'll be hitting on a lot of the special techniques that make this music so powerful.

The course will start with the fundamentals of open tunings, fingerstyle and slide playing, and go on to cover Blind Willie Johnson, R.L Burnside, Skip James, and Robert Johnson to name a few. If country and delta blues is your bag, this class is for you!

Classes will be taught over zoom and students will receive a video of each class to use as a practice tool for the ensuing week. Students will also receive links to source recordings and other teaching materials as they become relevant to the class.
