fundamentals of country songwriting

with Kristina Murray

Are you a fan of the music of country legends Merle Haggard, Harlan Howard, Ira Louvin, Dolly Parton, Cindy Walker, Roger Miller and Willie Nelson? Have you ever wanted to write YOUR OWN country song?

This October, the Nashville School of Traditional Country Music is proud to present Fundamentals of Country Songwriting for adults.

This four-part class is an immersive study and analysis of traditional country song and songwriters, and will teach the basics of songcraft including: theme, traditional country melody, lyricism, structure, and scheme.

Over the course, participants will craft and edit their own original country song, engage in writing exercises, and have community and conversation with like minded lovers of country music!

No experience required. Basic understanding of country guitar is helpful but not necessary. A love of traditional country music is a must!

4 Mondays in October: 7, 14, 21, 28

Classes meet at Soft Junk, 919 Gallatin Ave from 6-7 pm
